1. Originally, glutathione started out as a way to prevent diseases. Also known as GSH, this is a nutrient that is supposed to be naturally produced by the body found in every cell. Unlike what most people believe today, it was not always linked to whitening. During the 1920s, glutathione was used by the Japanese doctors to restore and repair liver enzymes, until they discovered that the patients’ complexions became lighter.


2. Glutathione works to whiten the skin by lowering the number of melanocytes. Melanin is basically what determines your skin color. This is produced by a melanocyte cell. Thus, by reducing melanocytes, less melanin will be produced making your skin tone lighter.



3. Glutathione products are available in many forms. There are actually two most common forms sold in the market: glutathione pills and topical glutathione such as soap. Other products include soaps, lotions, deodorant, scrubs, serums, and creams.
